Our Story

On a recent trip to my country, the Dominican Republic, I asked my aunt how in the world I could keep my recently washed and styled hair nice while I slept through the night.   Tropical evenings are damp and hot - meaning you sweat, toss and turn, and can become more than frustrated with a typical bandanna tied around your head.  What's more, when you wake up, you find the bandanna and your hair went in different directions.

The women in my family are all creative and innovative women.  It was no surprise when my aunt and a friend provided me with the perfect solution - a doobie tubi cap.  I was amazed at how well it held my hair and what's more, how it allowed my scalp to breathe and not contribute to the night sweat discomfort.

Their solution, the Dominican Doobie Tubi Cap.   A handmade cap that fits comfortably on your head and holds your dry-wrap, or tubi as we Dominicans call it, in place.    

Upon my return to the states, and to my local stylist, I introduced her to the handmade cap and how beneficial it had been on my trip.  Without much delay she ordered 5 units and explained the need for ethnic women to find something flexible, comfortable, and helpful to the nightly beauty maintenance ritual. 

The rest is history.

The Dominican Doobie Cap is created by a group of creative female friends and family.  The small business was started with a need and with the focus of offering a quality and durable item to the public.  With vision, heart, and teamwork, this small group of women hope to help other women and themselves into something positive.

We do NOT have a factory - but have talented hands.  Not all caps are identical due to varying hands and methods.  However, the outcome is the same - QUALITY!
